'Tomorrow is another day'

The drawing of the stunning Vivien Leigh from the legendary movie Gone with the wind. She has been, and will always be, my top pick for the most inspiring female fictional charactor ever. After watching the movie when I was just a kiddie I've been using her motto as if it's mine ever since.

This is the entry for :iconportraitpencilart: 'Heroes' contest. I have so many heroes in my life that when I decided to draw something for the club's heroes contest I had to work on a few drawings at the same time.

It's the FIRST time I've ever drawn a female celeb (what a way to start). Choosing this drawing as the contest entry was kind of the last minute thing because I wasn't sure if I could pull it off. Well, I didn't screw it up but PLEASE give me some feedback so I know how to improve from here.

I wanted this drawing to look like an old photograph so I chose to draw on a tinted metallic paper instead of the usual white paper one. This paper is always tricky to work on but it's shimmering surface gives the drawing more depth and dimension in real life. Too bad you can't see that effect from your computer screen.

UPDATE: I won the 3rd prize, YEAH!!!:boogie::boogie: :boogie: Thanks everyone for your support and CONGRATS to all the winners.
Daily Deviation, 2008-05-10

Daily DeviationKaren originally suggested a different drawing, but having featured the movie twice in a span of only a couple weeks, I decided to peek through the gallery of this fantastic artist instead. Scarlett O'Hara -Vivien Leigh by ~akaLilith is breathtaking. The effect created from the unique paper she chose really makes this 'Gone with the Wind' drawing pop-- alongside her amazing skill, of course! wow..the nose and the eyes are looking so great.
Kanisa, this is magnificent!

I absolutely adore the realism! This does look like a black and white photo. The eyes and hair are gorgeous! The choice of paper is excellent. The sepia tone really compliments the soft shading of her face! Fantastic job!!!

Beautiful! But, if I can allow myself to be a little mean..Does the eyes kind of separate from the rest of the drawing, are they a little "too" clear? Or is it just me? x)
Thanks. About the eyes, I meant to make them look a little brighter than the reference photo just so they stand out more. I think they make she look more alive.:bounce:

I don't care what I should do, I'll do what I want to
Thanks a lot for such a lovely comment. I'm quite happy with the eyes and hair myself. The good thing about drawing females as oppose to drawing males is I can exaggerate some feathers without making them look gay:giggle:.
